The Space Between

It is light, and fragments of sun blink through white pines
A shadow passes drifting on currents from the exhaling wind
The same phantom figure that awaits me hovering over frosted meadows upon the glaze of thawing snow
She is the lead raven speaking for the clan, a piercing shout echoing among the whistling wind
Crows cast a song from another direction, and the dance of cousins spread their black, dotted, winged- bellies against yellowing skies
A melody of notes reigns throughout the forest
My parroted voice reflected in stamped ground
We are different, yet touched by the same wind, sun, and snow softly tapering down
Our voices claim similar space and are given shelter from the pines, and a mattress of needles for rest
It is in the space between that I am raven and raven is me

Drinking in the aspects of your self requires a bit of seeing yourself in another. We are but a small part in this vast universe, and our connections to all can be realized by simple meditative nature exercises. The poem above is an example of how we can see the world through old conditioning, I am this, and you are that, but as we move through harmonious encounters we can perceive otherwise.

Try listening to your own inner voice, and heed your own message. It is easy to think that seeing a raven in yourself just can’t be, but imagine how it feels to search for food, to take flight, to navigate a landscape, to drink from the water, to feel protected by family, to rest, to hunt, to play. Objects outside ourself still reside in our deepest interior. This is why we well up when we see species devastation, when trees are harvested, and the land toiled because it is simply for us to use.

Meditative time in nature, once again, calls upon you to enter an underworld journey that discovers the space between you and another. Try an exercise in nature with your companions, then try seeing the space between you and a loved one. You will come to know, and realize the collective cord that binds us all.

Blessings on your journey

Journey to the Wild: Reclaiming the Wild Self in Nature

When is the last time you recall being so immersed in a natural area, such as a forest footpath, that you lost track of time? Better yet, got lost altogether? One of the most profound experience we can have is understanding our wild nature, while in nature. Rediscovering the playful rivers that instinctually run through our veins that include walking in sloppy mud, hopping rocks, skimming stones, hugging a tree, or sitting beneath a veil of branches lives the wild self. Our true energy thrives in the moment, and nature draws out this ‘now’ experience like no other.
It is hauntingly true that centuries of nature disconnection stories told to us, that suggest such nonsense, the darkness is scary, creatures in the forest are dangerous, strangers will hurt us, the basement of nature’s floor is covered with harmful, biting insects, and that the world out there is our possession, or resource, and we own it, have been damaging to the sacred nature that lives in us all.
It is a testimony to the human spirit that we are witnessing at this great time of change a resurgence to belong again with nature, to follow the call to return to our sacred union with our living earth. Thoreau captured the self divided from nature in many of his works. He noticed the “nostalgic longing” when we stray to far from listening to a flock of birds, witnessing a sunset, smelling rain, trying to catch a snowflake; the divided self.
As a Reiki healing agent, and counselor, I have witnessed the puddles of lost joy from aching hearts filled with illusions that if they could just find that one right relationship, job, place, or possession, the world would be fine. The missing piece for most was the daunting self-realization of a gap between the authentic self, and the mask worn for everyday life. The distance between the gap, over time, creates a form of self-alienation, where one no longer recognizes the whole self, and lives a fragmented existence. A fragmented self serves the ego in that it avoids full psychological, emotional, and spiritual contact with the world. It is a form of self-betrayal in which one has negotiated self power to be accepted, to be “normal.” This is what depression, and anxiety are; just fears that have manifested as a result of separating from the natural self, the wild self, the self in nature.
The mask we sometimes wear is a perfectly natural way of protecting oneself in the world. We wear masks of pride to hide vulnerability, and fears of humiliation that have little to do with the authentic (real) self at all. Masks are worn to cover pain, hide fear, and protect wounds we perceive others to have done to us. When we discover that masks no longer serve us, because if we maintain this protective barrier there can be no liberation, just a continual shackling of the soul bound by the ego, we can let go.
Nature can assist in mask removal and reclaim the free spirit self, because nature doesn’t judge, evaluate, compare us to another, or remind us of our mistakes. It beholds symbolic and sacred truths, such as a raven’s song, a tree’s stamina, the stealth movements of a coyote, tall inviting grasses, our own breath on a cool day. This is the vibrant pulse of nature, and how we recover our wild self. Time in nature builds the interior self with loving acceptance, nourishment, and insulates one with the unconditional reminder that we are apart of a larger seamless world.
There a few ways to practice being home in nature. 1) Go out and explore a natural area. Don’t think about your destination, or even staying on a path. Go with whatever feels like it is speaking to you. For instance, if it’s a snowy day and you spot fox tracks, just follow them. You will fee like a detective on the scent of a nature mystery, and you will shed your outer layers as you become like a fox. Use your wild imagination to wonder what does a fox do, where does it go, and how can I surrender to this call of a fox track? Explore a stream and where it leads, or a deer path. Just let yourself wander. 2) Try some meditative walking. This method involves settling into your physical body and connecting your body with the earth. As you walk focus on your breath. Connect your breath with the ground beneath you. Feel the cyclic nature of breath. Sense the breath of nature around you. Imagine yourself in synchronicity of breathing with all that’s around you. Now, feel your feet as they strike the ground. Feel the lightness and deepness of each foot. Looking back, see your footprint, if you can. If you cannot physically see your mark, imagine that you are leaving a trail of flowers where you have walked; a gift you are giving back to the earth. 3) Go to a natural area that attracts you. This can be sitting next to a rock that, or under a tree, or lying in an open meadow. For 30 minutes sit in silence, and listen. At first you will hear with your ears, but allow yourself to drop deeper and listen with your heart. What do you notice about yourself and your surroundings? As you settle and let go, you will begin to feel an awe, and a sense of Oneness.

Wild Journeying involves a profound understanding that you are a part of a larger cosmic map, and that your presence by means of your birth, is a significant landscape on this map. When you allow yourself to be in nature, a union that dissolves the separate self will emerge. Take part in this journey and reclaim your wild self.

Discover the eternal self

It is the illusion in life that feed our fears. Lift and look under the blanket of illusion, and recognize each of these fears. You will see fears that our ego requires to survive. Our ego is a necessary attachment to the physical world so that we can ultimately experience the material, however, paradoxically, it is this attachment that causes our suffering and misery. How do we suffer you ask? We suffer primarily because we “forget” that our spirit thrives on purity, love, and compassion. Our ego, feeds on survival mechanisms that have nothing to do with spirit, but has everything to do with basic survival, albeit how to move our personal power in the world. Our power is manifested through our work, careers, status symbols, material possessions, relationships, finances, sexual appeal, attractiveness, etc. What happens when our power is wielding its way in a direction counter to our spirit? Dis-ease, un-ease, and spiritual angst that shows up in consumerism, consumption, endless searching, finding the new “its,” like The Secret. These are just symptoms of filling the void. No one can fill your void! Don’t look for the next “fix” to be the answer. It isn’t. Below is a poem to assist you in understanding the journey of being your own light source, and defining your purpose within a challenging world of illusion. Stay on the path. Blessing on your journey, Kathy

Standing in your own light
No shadow illuminates bright
Shadows dwell in the creases of your mind
Projecting images of fear to avoid the Divine
Fears that hide your vulnerable traits
Disguised as a warrior in charge of your fate
In silence you learn the true rhythm of your soul
Be prepared to let the self go
It is only illusion that keeps you ashore
Take my hand and fear no more
Hug the river, embrace the land
Laugh with the moon, and take a stand
You are here to discover all that you are
The contents only limited by a glass jar
Open yourself, remove the lid
Spill your vibrance like lava spreading over rock
A boat will appear and will carry you from the dock
Now is the time to leap
The splashing water is only your tears
Rolling down your cheeks from the madness of stifled years
Releasing in torrents the salty taste of old
Enfolding in a sea with a new story to be told

Being in the here and now

So much of our time, energy, and thinking involve an assortment of ways to avoid the present. For instance, how much time do you invest in thinking about the future from what you will be doing later today, to your next vacation, your next purchase, and how much energy do you invest in the past? This can range from reviewing past mistakes, replaying scenes from days gone by, wishful thinking about what could have happened. Why do we avoid the present, or the here and now? The key root of here and now living is summoning to fears, and truths about our very nature. When we live in the present we can’t hide behind tomorrows, or yesterdays, and we must dig in deep to awaken to how we feel in the moment. This is where some of our fears live. Fears of loneliness, nothingness, abandonment, inadequacies, etc. Try making your fears your companions, or at best, passing visitors. Imagine being present focused with the intent of allowing bits of the world around you to come into your space. Below is a poem I wrote while being here and now.

Meandering streams, sinking in mud squished pools
on trails winding through woods
I hear a call from a meadow between trees
where fields sew together soils hugging grass and leaves
Misty wisps of golden strands taper to crusty ground
draping silken lashes on a crisp November morn
Milkweed faces gaily reach for my soft gloved hand
while releasing awaiting new seeds to be born
A chorus calls me tranquilizing my breath
loosening my hurried pace
Drinking tastes of clover, mint and mullein
weathered by the sparkling frost lace
I relinquish the day to discover anew
meadow uniting gifts of nature wrapped
in a symmetry of browns, whites, greens and blues
Softly, I yield to this symphonic grace and kneel
to the beauty among the milkweed face

Honoring your life in the present tense places a sacred stamp on being in the world as if you really matter. Catch yourself as you drift off in conversations about the past and future, and know that they too have a place in the fabric of your life. Being in the present requires a greater demand as you monitor your part in the many roles that you play. Try bringing the present to all your encounters with other people and see what happens when you shift the focus to the here and now. Explore time alone in nature and experience what nature teaches you. In my poem the awe of milkweeds showed me their close companionship and symphony of sound. There are so many parts yearning to be awakened. Let the present begin! Blessings on your journey, Kathy

The upper chakras

The fourth chakra is our heart center, and it is located in the chest, and the color resonates as green. The heart chakra is the meeting center for the bottom chakras (1-3) to feed upward, and the top chakras to feed down. The heart is where this transformation occurs. Fourth chakra is about self love, and compassionate love for others. This is why it is referred to as the “power center” of our energy system, as love is the true motivator of body and spirit.
The strength that this chakra houses is our capacity to forgive ourselves and others, the dedication and commitment to one’s calling, trust, hope, and capacity to heal oneself, and others, and general optimism that the divine power of love will change the world.
This does not mean that our fears get buried. They still live here, and we struggle with fears of loneliness, what happens when we don’t follow our heart, fears of commitment and betrayal. We draing energy from this chakra when we cannot forgive ourselves or others, and when jealousy, hatred, and anger become the motivation of our behavior.
The greatest gift we learn about our power center is the infinite and unconditonal grace of love. We ooze love, and fear the hold that it has over us at the same time. We are vulnerable and fear it being abused, misused, or taken from us. Loving oneself in spite of the external world that we live in becomes our ultimate goal. It means that we have to demonstrate courage to face the shadows from emotional wounding that take residence in all of us. Some of these shadows reflect a wounded heart and show up in alcoholism, anorexia, fear of failure, obesity, etc.
Each chakra contains vital information that tells us how we can wield our power in the world in both healthy and soul directed ways. Within the heart region it’s best tp get to know the wounds that control you, and to acknowledge how, where, and with whom their authority takes over. Ask yourself questions, such as, “Where do you play the victim role? How do you gain power from your wounds? Does it give you a reason to be angry, eat too much, provide an excuse for an addiction? Are you hanging on to old wounds so that you can hang on to your familiar life?
The next phase of your wound relationship is to also permit wounds to assist you in seeing the positive and good outcomes they have created. Every day practice saying out loud what you appreciate and are grateful for. This has been the most powerful practice for me that I employ every day. Gratitude, it will chase the tormented negative thoughts away like the puff of a wind. Go with it. Get in the habit of freeing yourself from your past, and the way your life currently clings to old habits of being wounded. Practice loving intention, and invite change int your life. This is a significant way to move beyond the past. Live in the present, and understand that characters and events from the past have been the messengers for the work you are here to do. Forgive and release the hurt so that you, and others can move on.

The fifth chakra is located in the throat area, and it resonates with the color blue. It is our center of communication, expression, and speaking our individual truth. The greatest challenge to speaking our truth is sorting through old belief systems from family, and other figures who have had authority over you. The aim of this center if for you to realize that you ultimately have power over yourself, and that power is ultimately aligned with the divine within you. The fear connection is that we have no control over our lives, or that we fear losing the control we think we have.
In the fifth chakra we gain energy when we speak the truth, engage in the power of choice and will that is connected beyond our individual self, and when we keep our word. When we keep our word, and make choices to our highest good, we perpetuate a positive on going cycle, or karma. In the fifth chakra, what we say and do has consequences.
The spiritual lesson of this chakra is to live by your sacred truth. No choice is insignificant, and every decision is linked to energy, and does matter. The difficulty we experience in this energetic region is the integtration of heart and mind. When we have an imbalance, our heart may dominate, but we tend to see the world as “everything is good,” when our mind dominates, we tend to use judgment, control, and see the world from a fear standpoint.
Examine your energetic habits by reflecting times when you have lost your will power. What are the situations and people who have control over your willpower? Are you able to speak openly and honestly without making compromises? If not, why not? What is your faith? Are you able to tell when you are receiving spiritual guidance?

The sixth chakra, often referred to as the “third eye” is purple in color, and located between the brow on the forehead. This our wisdom and intuituve and visionary center. The energy that flows in the sixth chakra, when unblocked, reveals our sacred purpose; our sense of “knowing” the service we are here to contribute to the collective whole.
Our lives are imbedded from a host of personal experiences, grounded in ego attachment, and insights gains from intuitive guidance. In the wisdom energy center, we are challenged to lift the illusionary veil of false truth (our mind), and surrender to the bigger picture we are here to fulfill.

Cultural, social and family obstacles make the process of detaching from ego, and creating and impersonal mind, a lifetime task. Most of our life is centered around fulfilling roles based on how other people in our lives perceive us. Well intended people may see you as an athlete, leader, nurse, teacher, etc., but may not understand these attributes may, or may not be part of your true calling. In the sixth chakra you are asked to follow your own truth, and create the rules for which you need to live your life by.

Some ways to begin opening and balancing this chakra is by reflecting on questions. What ideas and beliefs do you continue to invest in even though you know aren’t true? For instance, the food industry is wrought with over crowded animal factory farms. We know the conditions create disease, yet we still buy these foods at our local stores. Ponder the areas in life where you feel this discord. Are you comfortable viewing your life from a distance? What negative patterns do you carry with you that shows up in your intimate relationships, such as a need to be dominant, judgmental, withdrawing, avoiding conflict?

The seventh chakra, referred to as “the crown,” is located on top of the head, and the color is white. The seventh flows energy from the crown to all the other sixth chakras, and the physical body. The most sacred sentiment of the seventh is to live in the present moment, and to discover one’s union with her or his God truth. This is different then a relationship with religion, in which the focus is more tribal (first chakra), rather than a personal spiritual connection.

It is a critical part of our human experience to devote our lives toward a connection beyond our ego self, and living with meaning and purpose. The absence of this path creates spiritual chaos, and an individual crisis about faith. Grappling with a sense of self while dancing with the mystical divine contributes to nagging yearnings of “there must be something more than this job, relationship, promotion, exercise regime, etc.” When we fail to recognize our soul purpose it becomes common to substitute devotion to work, career aspiration, material goods, or just staying so busy that time alone becomes the stranger.

Here are some ways to tap the energetic source within the seventh chakra. Ask yourself questions, such as: How do I evaluate my life from a meaning perspective? Can I see how life events are connected, and how certain themes emerge? What fears do I have about my spiritual foundation? Do you have regrets over some choices you have made? What ideas do you have about spiritual awakening? Would you perceive yourself to be equally connected, or superior to others? Have you establsihed a daily spiritual devotion and practice? Do you believe you can be healed? How would your life chnge if you received answers to your spiritual questions from a divine source? What fears would be evoked if you committed to a spiritual path?

The chakras are a unifed team that work to create a balanced and harmonic self, so that body, mind and spirit can operate in the world congruently. Studying the chakras and practicing balancing techniques through Reiki are powerful ways to live more fully, and realize your highest potential.

Introduction to chakras- 1, 2, 3

Understanding Chakras

Chakras are spirals of energy that house biographical information within our bodies. In some ways they can be visualized as wheels of light roating like petals on a flower around seven areas of our bodies. Each of the seven chakras manifest energy through color. This is what people often refer to as an aura. Auras are just light reflecting from the chakra centers and luminate our health as well as our depleted energy. In reiki, the energy centers radiate imbalances through coldness, excess heat, and other sensations. A reiki session aims to realign centers to a person’s highest potential.

One way to understand chakra is to have a direct experence with your energy field. Place your hands together in a prayer position. Star rubbing your hands together vigoriously. Now, move them apart between 4”-6.” You will start to feel a tingling feeling and a slight resistance between the space of your hands. This is your energy field pulsating through your hands. All the chakras connect through your palms. You can try this experience with a friend and see the difference in how energy pulsates from one person to the next.

I’ll provide just a brief view of each chakra, and ecourage to continue exploring each energy field as it resonates within your life.

The first chakra, called the root, is red in color and represents physical matter in the world. It is located just below the genital area. This means everything from self-perseveration, our physcial survival, fears of abandonment, loss and alienation. The root is a survival based chakra and relates to our family, community, and general sense of tribe (social, political, religious) on a larger scale. When the root chakra is mature and healthy it recognizes that all life is sacred, and “we are all one.” We will glow with self-acceptance. It is, however, highly influenced over family beliefs, such as
“Whom is it okay to love?” “What kind of work is accetpable for me to do?”
This is the chakra that involves wars over religion, challenging family belief systems. The root is effected by our early experiences of security in the sense we all received adequate warmth, food, shelter, and love. A person may experience an imbalanced root through phobias (fear of the dark fear of failing), anxieties, insomnia, etc. Main theme: All are one honoring all life. Issues around one’s personal honor code, standing up for one’s self live here.
Questions connected to the first chakra, How much influence does the past have on your current behavior? Is there unfinished business that needs healing from your family of origin? Where are you palying a victim role?

The second chakra’s energetic work relates to the dynamic of self and other, such as our intimate relationships, and our relationship to sex, money and power. It is referred to as the sacral chakra. It’s location is the lower abdomen toward the navel area. This is the area of empowerment, and it is subject to our early explorations of our boundaries with authority, social conformity, and social expectations. The color is orange. This is also the chakra we associate with passion, creativity, and procreation. When imbalanced, we may distance ourselves from emotions, or engage in pleasure seeking themes to nourish our emotional vaccuum. We may distance ourselves from the physcial world through obesity, substance abuse, and sexual dysfunction.
Where the first chakra’s statement is “I am,” the second is “I feel.” The primary focus of the sacral chakra is the need for relationships, and the need to control one’s environment. This is a chakra that is involved in seeing dichotomies, such as right andwrong, good and evil, just and unjust. It is where we harbor our ethical focus. Issues around fear of losing control live here. Main theme, Honor the sacred union with others.
Questions to consider around the second chakra are, Do you consider yourself creative? What blocks your talents, dreams, and goals? Do you compromise your ethics? How much are you controlled by money?

The third chakra’s color is yellow and it is referred to as the solar plexus as this is it’s location. The primary focus is the conscious self; the self that seeks its’ own identity separate from the tribe. The primary fears that are connected to our self esteem is rejection, criticism, fears related to our physical appearance, fear of becoming fat, etc. This the chakra where we evaluate ourelves against an external construct. The sacred truth of the thrid chakra is learning to honor and love our self. This self understanding is a necessary crucible to navigate the passage from childhood to adulthood.
We have a choice in how we invest energy in all chakras, and in the third we can either invest toward the physical world of material illusion (how much I am worth, possession of goods, beauty), or we can infuse energy toward the power of spirit.
The questions most associated with the third chakra to ask yourself are, Do I like myself? Am I open to feedback from others? Do I blame others in order to protect myself? Can you stick to your commitments? Are you afraid of responsibility?

No boundaries

Today ,I looked in and saw out

the fly that rested on my foot,

cleansing her transparent wings and gazing up at me

Today, I looked in and saw out

the flicker winking in flight at me

making his way toward a branch of tree

Today, I looked in and saw out

a smiling squirrel leaping from tree to tree

laughing at the whimsical game of not touching ground

Today, I looked in and saw out

a reflection merging with nature’s pulse

in veins, in breath, and voice

the song of my soul

Blessings on your journey, Kathy

Through the process of energy healing you will begin to notice a deeper understanding of our loosening boundaries with the nature of woods, plants, animals, rivers, stars, wind, self and others. Initially, this realization is almost misty, a bit dreamy, and easily pushed aside as “I am this,” and “this is other than me.” There will be a glimpse, perhaps only a few seconds of this merging, and then it may drift. That’s okay, that is a part of the descent into your soul nature resonating with nature. The relationship will eventually plummet toward a union of self and other, and you will gradually notice that your breath will become one. This process may take years, and even a lifetime. You can assist the descent by spending time in nature in solitude (no phone, pets, friends, watch) and allowing yourself to be drawn to natures voices. Practice receiving through your senses, then close your eyes and drop into a more focused state. Select a natural attraction such as a rock. Speak aloud to the rock telling it about yourself, your journey, and why you are with this rock today. Listen intently with what you receive. Be patient and visit nature often.

Capturing Dreams

Dreams are such a poetic journey to the soul, and much can be learned by recalling the fabric of your dreams. Do you have difficulty remembering you dreams? You are not alone in this challenge. However, there are a few good methods that can help you not just recall, but unravel fragments, mysteries and messages that can add profound meaning to your life.

Not long a go, I was plagued with recurring visits of bears. Bears were showing up in my dreamworld like dogs in a park. It started off with a bear on a porch to a ranch in the west. Then another bear appeared on a trail moving a cross the landscape in dream like fashion. My life, back then, was so immersed in business, planning, and being on the go that I lacked contemplative, and inward soul searching. I had begun to feel like a machine; just consuming and producing. Bear dreams were the awakening that my life needed to upright a calling for introspection. Bears are wonderful symbols not only of protection, but of introspection. I need to honor this calling, and learned to feed this part of my inward craving for incubation.

The beauty of dreams is to enhance inner listening. Perhaps you have an illness you are not paying attention to, a family member who you have neglected by not calling, a job that you have outlived, a relationship that requires attention, a future calling you that you have ignored. Through a dream you may experience symbolism, metaphors, animals, houses, water, etc. that will have a special meaning to you. The challenge is to play the dream out from memory as if it is telling you a story. Refrain from editing especially if you feel embarrassed, or afraid. If you can’t remember all of it just write down fragments.

Here is a quick method to aid you in dream recall.
1) Keep a journal next to your bed. This will reinforce the idea that you are taking this seriously. Tell yourself ahead of time that you will remember your dreams.
2) Upon awakening, try not to move. Dream recall is enhanced by the position you are lying in.
3) Share your dream with someone. This will help keep it alive and allow you to see inner nuances you might have denounced.
4) Write down colors, themes, distance to objects, familiar places and people, food that you did or did not eat, messages, animals, time period, etc.

Practice these tips and add a few of your own, and you will indeed begin to capture the mystery of the night through invaluable messages of dreams.

Sleep tight!

A friend brought this beautiful treasure to my attention. Please read the Hopi elders’ prophecy and embrace the future knowing you are a significant part of the process of change, and never give up your part, even though you may doubt your contribution. It is the unraveling mysteries of the self that we discover who we are. Continue to enjoy your journey!

Oraibi, Arizona June 8, 2000

You have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell people that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered….
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?

Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for your leader.

Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time! There is a river flowing very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.
Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes, and heads above the water.

And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take noting personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, or spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.

The time of the one wolf is over. Gather yourselves!
Banish the word ’struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

It just keeps getting better

During my Reiki training my instructor revered the phrase, “it keeps getting better,” and I considered her purely blessed with some wonder dust that kept her so upbeat, but soon after launching into the world of Reiki I realized that indeed, it “just keeps getting better.”

The phrase refers to the deep resonating awareness that is uncovered when dipping further into the realms of energy work. Energy, as you may know, exists in all matter, and it becomes a ecstatic symphony as you awaken to the many ways in which energy speaks. As a devoted trail runner and nature enthusiast, I have become greater tuned in to the voices of nature, songs of birds, vibrations from plants, echoing rippling of a stream, chatter among the crows, and the connection these aspects have to my humble human nature.

It brings to question how we are so deeply connected, and that sometimes the use of verbal language interferes with our right brain, non-language, holistic world of beauty from an intuitive perspective. One does not have to practice Reiki to receive and connect, however receiving Reiki from someone can heighten this sensory wanderlust.

Reiki allows one’s energy channels to open and spiral in a fashion that aids continual healing. Healing is a lifetime action similar to the way our cells renew themselves about every five years, it just keeps asking for a renewal from the life source. Reiki, in a sense, is a plug that releases this life soure energy to someone.

How does it keep getting better? Once we cross the bridges to our many awakenings, and there will be many opportunities along the way, then it becomes our responsibility to choose this higher vibration to perch from. Functioning from a more focused intention illuminates the way with less effort. For instance, let’s say that one of your primary paths of destiny is to be an advocate of justice. So, you say to yourself, “I want to work with the underprivileged and abused as a lawyer.” First thing you know, you get mugged, your long time friend steals from you, and you got a speeding ticket and you only went over the speed limit by 2 mph.

How is this getting better, you say? Well, focus on the intention when you put your energy out there. One of the best ways to unravel our destined paths is to experience the opposite. Some of the most compassionate individuals in the world functioned from losses, grief, abuse, and neglect. It doesn’t mean that you will suffer, nor would I suggest that you set out to martyr yourself. Simply understand that part of our learning is through direct experiences that teach you what you will need to express all that you are, and all you are here to do.

A Reiki path works the same way. I’m drawn to help people feel a sense of empowerment, increase intuition, make choices that reflect the true self, and find a balanced life platform to live from. As a result of this intention that gets casts in the world, a life of leaving a pragmatic and mechanistic world, of which I was trained in, has taken decades to move from, and never would I have perceived myself as the healer that I am today.

What will the future bring? I can only tell you it keeps getting better!
